  • My husband and I rated this as our TOP TIER ACTIVITY in Langkawi! Awesome experience! We booked through LangkawiGoTours with a package of 2pax on Wednesday morning (4th December 2024). Package includes lunch at the floating restaurant (we had nasi goreng ayam with tomyam soup and a really tasty lemonade). It also includes boat to the Floating Restaurant from the jetty, Bat Cave Tour and eagle-watching. There was only my husband and I that day during that time slot so alhamdulillah it was more of a private tour and our guide, Zack, was such a friendly and incredibly knowledgeable person. We had a terrific time kayaking through the mangrove forest, even got to spot a kingfisher and a viper dangling on a tree branch. Eagle watching from our kayak is way better than experiencing it from a boat. Zack gave us an extra time to enjoy the eagle watching as we’re in absolute awe. Weather was kind to us, not too hot. Although it did rain just a little bit for bout 10 mins, that didn’t stop the tour, which is great. Zack also helped take photos and videos during the tour so we have memories of it. Booking was very easy and they reply very promptly although I texted them around 10pm at night. Roy was very accommodating, explained the itinerary and package inclusive of what. He even funnily assured me that there are no crocodiles in the area and would resign from field work if there is. All in all, my husband and I are so happy with this tour, we gained so much knowledge with Zack, our tour guide, it was really fun and an amazing experience indeed. Highly recommended!

  • Absolutely amazing experience- the best value for money. Roy, our guide has such extensive knowledge and is a fantastic human being as well! Over 4hrs of tour was filled with so much fun, exploring hidden tunnels of mangroves, loads of knowledge and fun facts. We also seen eagle feeding and was served great traditional meal. The end of the tour was at the bat cave. All in all, 10/10!

  • Absolutely mind blowing experience from start to finish. We were lucky to have Roy as our guide and having read the reviews I had expectations, our boy Roy did not disappoint! We explained all the safety rules and guidelines and we had an enchanting journey through the mangroves where the stillness and peace is awe inspiring. We were lucky enough to see monkeys, eagles and put vipers in their natural habitat. Roy did an amazing job sharing local knowledge about the mangroves and the ecosystem. We always felt at ease and never rushed and he took so many wonderful photos and videos of the us individually and the group it gave us all some lasting memories. Finally, there might be cheaper options out there, but one thing made me trust Roy was he explained the value of going in low tide versus high tide. Our trip started around 2.30 in high tide, going with another operator who offers to take you in low tide please be cautious as you can get stuck. Overall an amazing experience highly recommended!

  • The kayaking trip to the mangroves was absolute perfection. The sights were so beautiful I almost couldn’t believe they were real but luckily our amazing guide took such incredible photos I can actually show people how amazing! Roy was incredible and so knowledgeable and because of this we got to explore the mangroves. Our guide was fully aware of the tides which made sure we got the best out of the experience and got to explore the mangroves!

  • “An unforgettable adventure through the mangroves!” This kayaking mangrove tour was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Our guide Roy was phenomenal—so knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the environment. They made the tour both educational and fun, sharing fascinating facts about the mangroves and wildlife while ensuring everyone felt safe and included. What really stood out was how interactive the tour was. Roy encouraged questions and pointed out hidden wildlife we would’ve completely missed on our own. They even took the time to snap some incredible photos of us (and of the scenery) that turned out amazing—definitely frame-worthy! The route itself was stunning: peaceful waterways shaded by lush mangroves, with plenty of opportunities to spot eagles, snakes and even a few fish in the fish farm. The pace was perfect, allowing us to soak it all in without feeling rushed. If you’re looking for a unique, eco-friendly adventure with an incredible guide and memories to last a lifetime, book this tour—you won’t regret it! I wish I can do this every weekend what a vibe!

  • This was an unforgettable experience. Roy, our guide, was excellent - professional + helpful for first time kayakers such as ourselves + great explanations of the natural mangrove environment. We even got to see a Mangrove pit viper up close. Just note it can be fairly tiring especially in the heat! Overall would highly recommend.

  • We had a fabulous time with our wonderful guide Roy, he was very knowledgeable about the Mangroves and the wildlife, a big bonus was no set time for the tour so it ran with the Tide to give us the best experience possible. We arrived at the floating restaurant , where we were given our equipment and canoes plus instruction. We were first on the river which meant it was so peaceful . Kayaking was great with the backrests an added bonus.,winding down the narrow channels only accessible by kayak was amazing we saw a family of monkeys, muddkippers, the feeding area for the eagles and listened to the calls of the mating birds amongst the serene Mangoe groves. On returning to the floating market we were served a lovely lunch. We then watched the families of Otters feeding and playing that the edge of the cliffs. Whilst waiting for our boat transfer we were shown around the fish farm, Mangrove rays, giant Trevellion, Huge Groupers and Horseshoe crabs all raised to be released back into the eco system. All in all a great day led by the lovely Roy Would highly recommend

  • Exploring the mangroves by kayak with our guide, Roy, made this experience truly special. It’s true that the mangrove tour can also be done by motorboat, but this option is not ideal, as it doesn’t offer the same sense of beauty and intimacy. The boat cannot navigate the narrow channels of the mangrove forest. First of all, Roy carefully chose the time of day for the kayak tour. Many companies run this tour twice a day without considering the fact that the exploration of the channels is only special at high tide (not at low tide), when the water level is high enough to access all the narrow passages. Also, the tour will not have more than 12 people, so in this way the tour feels more intimate. So, the kayak tour through the mangrove forest with Roy can be summed up in three words: beauty, relaxation, and education. Beauty – Reflected in the natural surroundings. Relaxation – Although paddling through the mangrove channels might seem hard work, in reality, Roy encouraged us from the start to relax and to take our time to enjoy the environment. In addition, he made frequent stops to tell us stories about nature, so the two-hour paddling session flew by effortlessly. Education – Roy helped us understand the importance and uniqueness of this place, demonstrating extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna, while also sharing his personal experiences. So, I can guarantee that you will have a nice and relaxing time with Roy !

  • Reservation was done without a hassle. It was such an enjoyable tour for my family and I. The guide, Roy is a passionate naturalist and we've learnt so much about the mangrove ecosystem and the uniqueness of Langkawi Geoforest, and we had a great time with other tour attendees. Tour hours were customised based on tide conditions, and safety was ensured by briefing and the meticulous observation by our guide. We managed to observe diverse flora and fauna. Lunch was nothing to shout about but adequate. Big thank you to Roy and team.

  • My family (me and my husband, and two boys 20 & 14) joined the half day mangrove kayaking trip led by Roy and his colleague. It was utterly a wonderful experience, both fun and informative. Roy was super friendly, and answered my endless questions before the trip with such patience. He and his teammate are very knowledgable about the mangrove and the island, and it's fascinating to learn all the facts shared by them. We got to see many creatures in the mangrove forest, even including a pit viper!! Roy made us feel safe and confident in the environment. It was a small group, only three families total 8 people. It was easier for everyone to be more involved. Exploring the magical mangrove forest by kayaking is a must-do thing in Langkawi, and going with Roy and his team is highly recommended.

  • The mangrove kayaking was an experience of a lifetime. We did the 6 Hours Kayak Tour with free Hotel Pick-up with Fikri at the Unesco-listed Kilim Karst Geoforest Park - the only place in Malaysia where coastal karst (limestone) and mangrove ecosystems coexist. So glad that I did it as it was so fun especially kayaking the winding waterways. It felt like an obstacle course at times trying to avoid the low hanging mangrove branches. There were moments of serenity in side the mangroves, being in touch with nature. Fikri was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. He took his time to explain the mangrove ecosystem to us. He answered all our questions. We got to see the monkeys up close. He pointed out the eagles to us. We had a late lunch at a floating restaurant and fish farm. At the end of the tour, Fikri shared many photos that he took of the group during the tour ensuring that we have lasting memories of our adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed conversing with Fikri and wish him all the very best with his wife and new baby. You can go barefoot on the kayak and so, don't worry about packing special footwear. Do not hesitate to book the tour. You won't regret doing it.

  • Roy displayed excellent customer service, was professional and patient throughout, and very understanding as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend choosing him over Xtreme kayaking who, despite having been around longer and has more reviews, proved to be quite arrogant and rude when he found out that I was also considering Roy’s services.

  • I know there are many Mangrove Operators in Langkawi - Chose this one! Trust me! The tour is timed really thoughtfully so the water level allows you to go deep into the channels, which makes a huge difference! The group was small so it felt not staged or touristy at all. If the luck is on your side and your group is silent enough you will be seeing monkeys, woodpeckers and eagles. (Lots of eagles) A massive shoutout to our Guide Roy. We felt comfortable with him from the very first minute. He’s not just a tour guide who points things out, but someone who genuinely educates you, explains the reality behind what you’re seeing, and does it with so much empathy and passion. You can tell he truly cares. Would do it again anytime!

  • Amazing experience - the best kayak-tour I had in Asia!!! The tour is very well organized. Website and WhatsApp number is provided on Google. They will respond quickly and answer you every question you will have. The kayaking by itself (through the mangroves) is just astonishing. Duo and solo kayaks are available. If you are not experienced in kayaking the guide will give you some instructions before the trip starts. Lunch and waterbags are included. Our guide was Iqram and he was one of the best guides I‘ve ever had so far. He speaks english perfectly and also knows a lot (!) about the forest and its history aswell as its wildlife. In terms of his studies in herpetology he is also able to give you a lot of detailed information about reptiles and animals in general. You truly feel his passion for nature!🫶🏼🏞️ If you are lucky, you will be able to experience some wild animals in their natural habitat (Snakes, Monkeys, Birds, Lizards, …). Don’t miss it and book it now!!!🍀

  • It was one of the best experiences I’ve had. The guide contacted us before arriving and arranged a time and meeting point. After that, we boarded the boat, visited the bat cave, and then headed to the kayaking area. We had a quick training session before continuing into the forest. The weather was perfect—cloudy and rainy, which made the whole trip feel even more refreshing. Just a heads-up: there were no lockers available, they gave small waterproof bag so better to consider that to keep your belongings safe.

  • We had a wonderful time with Roy during our 2 hours Kayak Tour. It was nice to navigate within the Mangrove and the vibe was really chill , no strong health condition is required. Roy is a very passionate guide and we learnt a lot about the mangrove thanks to him. We highly recommend to book this tour.

  • We had a very enjoyable time out in the mangroves at Kilim Geoforest Park. Our guide Roy was knowledgeable and passionate about the mangrove ecosystem and very engaging as a guide. He was flexible with his schedule but firm about when best to tour the mangroves. We managed to go when the tides were higher and had a really good time. Lunch was excellent and the photos fantastic. Remember the insect repellent though. Highly recommended.

What to expect

Kayaking through a narrow mangrove river at Kilim, Langkawi

1. Experience Kilim Geoforest Park Like Never Before

Kilim Geoforest Park is a protected area under the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia and part of Langkawi UNESCO Geopark — one of Southeast Asia’s most stunning eco-tourism zones.
This mangrove forest is home to herons, red eagles, long-tailed macaques, reptiles, squirrels, and more than 40 species of saltwater fish.
You’ll also see coastal wetlands, limestone cliffs, and islands like Langgun and Dendang — all natural masterpieces.

Kayaker paddling below limestone cliffs in Kilim Geoforest Park

2. Tide-Based Tour Timing (We Only Go at the Best Time)

Kayak sessions usually start at 10 AM – 2 PM (morning) or 3 PM – 7 PM (evening).
But timing changes daily depending on the tide level — it shifts every 5–6 hours.
If the tide is too low, we can’t enter the narrow mangrove canals — and that’s the highlight of this tour.
So, after booking, wait for our WhatsApp confirmation for your exact start time — we only go when conditions are perfect.

3. Starting Point – Floating Restaurant & Fish Farm

The tour starts at the floating fish farm, where our kayaking station is located.
Here, you can explore the farm while waiting for the guide to prepare the kayaks.
Toilets are available before the trip (once on the water, nature takes over 😄).
After kayaking, you’ll return here for lunch included in the package (4-hour tour).

4. Equipment & Safety Briefing

Each kayak is a double-seater (Sit On Top type) — stable and beginner-friendly.
Every guest receives a life jacket, paddle, two water bottles, and one waterproof bag per kayak.
Before starting, our guide will conduct a safety briefing and check all equipment.

Kayak Specs:

  • Type: Sit-On-Top (SOT)

  • Size: 393 × 76 × 35 cm

  • Material: High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

  • Weight: 33 kg | Max Load: 280 kg

  • Suitable for: Sea / Lake

5. Into the Mangrove Canals (The Real Highlight)

This is the main reason people love this trip — kayaking inside the narrow canals where only one kayak fits through at a time.
No boats can enter these parts, so it’s peaceful and raw — the real Nat Geo Wild feeling.
The full kayaking takes about 2 hours, but we move slowly to enjoy the view and stay shaded as much as possible.
Our guide will share live commentary and point out interesting wildlife along the way.

6. Eagle Watching (Brahminy Kite & White-Bellied Sea Eagle)

Once you exit the mangrove canals, we move into the eagle-watching zone.
Here you’ll see two main species — Brahminy Kite and White-Bellied Sea Eagle — diving gracefully over the water.
We don’t feed the birds, but you’ll likely see them swooping down as nearby boat tours do.

7. Lunch at the Floating Restaurant

After kayaking, you’ll return to the fish farm for a set lunch included in the package (4-hour tour):
🍛 Chicken fried rice
🥤 Orange juice (cordial)
🍲 Tom yam soup
🍉 Fruits

Extra dishes like fish, prawns, crab, or squid are available at additional cost — freshly cooked on-site.

8. Why This Tour Is Special

This is the only way to explore Kilim Geoforest Park up close without harming the environment.
You’ll kayak through untouched nature, guided by passionate locals who know every corner of the mangrove.
If you love nature, peace, and real connection with Langkawi’s wild side — this tour is for you.
